I am already a GC holder for 2 years. I am considering going to graduate school and I was going to apply for financial aid like FASFA or whatever else there is.

My question is weather this will affect my sponsors who helped me apply for citizenship? Can the government go after my sponsors if I receive some grant?I would think that it is different from living on government handout s like some immigrants do, but I want to make sure in order to protect my sponsors.

It will not affect anything you mentioned. Financial Aid is calculated based on your income from last year. Say if you are going to apply for 2007-08 year, then you have to submit the tax papers for 2006. There is nothing wrong to get financial aid. Financial aid is granted by federal government through federal funds. I am a BS student and I got it for few years as my income was not much. One good thing about financial aid is that you do not have to pay it back. But as you are going for graduate program which means Masters degree in US is considered as higher level education, and depends how financial aid take it in your case. Good luck.
