Collect Unemployment Benefits after layoff?

I am going to be laid off next month. I had applied for I-485 in Oct-2002.
Can I collect unemployment benefits after I am laid off?
Would it affect my Green Card process in any way?

Remember that GC is for a future job and BCIS before approving your GC verifies that you are still employed and in the future not going to be a burden on the US government.

How can you ask them to pay you when your employer who applied for your GC claimed during LC that they could not find a person like you and that is why they are sponsoring your GC?
