Hi,

I have a question regarding EAD.

1. Is it activated automatically if we apply and get SSN through EAD ?
2. What about SSN if something happens to my I-485 in future ?
3. What happens if I get break between EADs...i.e If I don't use, do I need to apply for second EAD....

Think of SSN as just a number for your existence in US. thats it. It doesn't have any bearing on GC process. Now ur Q i'll answer as i understand though Qs are pretty vague.
1. When u send 485; ur lawyer send 765 form also. 765 is ur EAD application. Your SSN doesn't change with renewal or any other process of EAD/AP etc etc.
2. If ur 485 gets denied then u just lost ur case; you can do appeal and in that time ur lawyer will be ur best friend and u'll be his best customer. If u r on H1 while 485 is denied then u can begin the process again only some energy left in you to pursue ur american dream.
3. If u r working on EAD u r not supposed to take any break but shit does happen in life say lay-off, accident and employer dismissed etc etc. Try to find another job in same profile ASAP. You can renew ur EAD as early as 6 months before expiry of existing. If r using H1 then all these EAD stuff is crap.

Thanks for your answers. Actually this EAD is for my wife (she is a dependent). I will be on H1B only till I get GC.
The problem is....she will work for short time and then goes idle and works... like this can she do it.... or she should continuosly work for any employer....
becaz I am a consultant moving place to place...she has to move with me....

its fine.., your wife can have a break in between..., since she is not a primary applicant. Whether she finds a job or not..., just apply for EAD renewal at the time you need to apply for renewal. Always keep the option open.
 
I meant to say..., let your wife have a valid EAD all the time until 485 is approved..., so as she would always be elligible to work..., even if she is not working.
