Hello Folks,

I have an b1-Business appoinment with Chennai Consulate on next week where my travel is fixed on 1-Aug'05 which is 2 months from now. Can you please help me in the below queries what i have.

1. Is it ok if i take up an interview next week for the travel which is going to be in Aug?ie, in 2 months advance. Is this normal scenario?

2.Will The B1-VISA validity starts from the day when it get stampped or the day when we travel?can we ask for a specific date as a VISA Start date?

3. If i get an VISA now, will i be lapsing 2 months till i travel?ie, if i get 6 months b1 VISA, the time when i travel in aug, will i be having only 4months left over?

As i am the first time visitor for USA consulate, any advice from you all( i have in UK for around 4 years) ?

Thanks very much in advance.

regards,
Raj

yes U can go for the Visa 2 months advance, that will not be a problem..

whether you get 6months visa or 10 years, that is upto the consulate.. and not your choice....and also let you know that once you arrive US airport, the immigration inspecter will decide whether how much time should be give to you to stay in US...that can be 1 month to 6 months...... depending on your purpose..

But say like if you get visa for 6 months and you start your US tour after 2 months of getting the visa....that wont be a problem, but yes at the airport in US, immigration officer can ask you your purpose....and you should have a valid reason, which i still valid with evidence...and not time out....

Your UK experience will not have any effect for the US visa or tour..
