Clarification please - Traffic Tickets

Hi There-

I have seen a lot of information about this on this site. What I would really like to know is what period USCIS looks at for traffic tickets? Mine is a marriage based case. I have 1 ticket in the last 5 years, but I have a total of 7 traffic tickets over the last 13 years:

1 Failure to yield in 1994
2 speeding (one in 1996 and 1 last week)
2 were for failure to yield in 1999/2000.
2 for expired inspection sticker (1999).

These were all civil infractions and I have paid all but the last ticket (which I received last week) and I have another post about that - forgive multiple posts, but I am very stressed now...

I did have to go to court twice (once because I forgot to pay a ticket and license was suspended...paid fine, case dismissed. second time, because some neighbor reported my second car as abandoned and it was waiting for the charity guys to pick it up, also dismissed). Those were also in 1999/2000...bad couple of years apparently

Should I continue to be stressed? Will it help that I only have 1 ticket in 5 years? Will these affect citizenship? Could it affect permanent residence if Citizenship is dinged?

Help...!

Hi Gaude,

IMHO, you should not get too worried about traffic tickets, as long as they did not involve DUI/DWI, reckless driving etc., and the fact that you only have one ticket in the last five years should help too, I am sure. I declared my traffic citations on my form N-400 and attached the dispositions of those tickets. The adjudicating officer told me during my interview that minor traffic citations that have been properly taken care of have no bearing on the natz application.

Good luck!
