I have a question. I became US citizen in the year 2007, I am married and I have a son who is born in US. My wife also became the US citizen along with me.
Here is my problem.
I recently visited India and there I came to know that I have a daughter.
When I was in India , I was having a Girl friend and we were planning to get married at that time, But due to some family problems we didn’t , But now I came to know that my Girl friend delivered a girl baby at that time and I was the father of that girl, I had DNA test and the test confirms that I am the father. Now after knowing that I am the father , I don’t want to leave my daughter there. I want to bring her to US and I want her to live with us.
How my case can be handled , How can my daughter come to US and become a US citizen like us. How can I say to US immigration that I am the father of that girl, Right now my daughter is 14 year old. Is there a way. Please let me know.

Being a US citizen, you can file for a green card for her and she would get approved in about 6 months. During the process you would file paperwork including form I-130, and proof of being her father -- the birth certificate and the DNA test results. After her GC is approved, upon entering the US to live with you she would instantly become a US citizen. A relatively smooth process as far as US immigration is concerned.

However, you would need work out some legal arrangement with her mother and the Indian government to get permission to take her out of India permanently. And her mother cannot come with her (unless she can get a green card or some kind of visa independently of you).

Note that in the process of applying for her green card or US passport, you may have to explain why you didn't include her in the section of the N-400 where they ask you to list your children.

Hi Jackolantern
Thankyou very much for your reply. I was having sleep less nights after knowing i have a daughter in India. And i am very much worried as how i can bring her here. And your reply has given me some energy to move further.
Will there be any complications to my citizen if I start this process.
I really don't know about my daughter when i am filing my citizen ship application. I came to know about my daughter very recently and i don't want to stand in-front of her as a bad irresponsible father. I want to take care of her.

How do i proceed, Can you please throw some light.
DNA test confirms ,that i am the father,
and she has a date of birth certificate and my name is mentioned as a father though not married to my girl friend. (will this be OK).
Please advice.

thanks in advance.
