Claiming unemployment on pending I-485 ...

I am the primary on I-485 and got laid off last month. I have EAD and priority date Sept 2004 India EB3.

Can I claim unemployment insurance? I live in California, if that makes any difference.

If possible, show pointers/references that support your answer.

My attorney said to go for it.
