hi,
can you tell me at what stage of citizenship application you take the civics test? after the interview (if it goes ok of course)?

can you tell me what is involved in that test. just one multiple choice test? is there anything else?

as far as i know, civics test is usually the first thing after taking oath and checking your ID. however, it does not preclude the IO from asking questions first if he has something on his/her mind. this might be the usual practice, but not the rule.

they ask up to 10 questions, when you get 6 (or 7) right, they stop. the questioning is oral .. they read a question, you answer. you can answer any one of the answers listed in the guide. they will not give you multiple answers and ask you to choose, you need to remember. besides the civics test, they will give you one english statement to write, and one english statement to read.
[EDIT/ADD] sorry should have clarified ... it is part of the interview process. thanks mogambo, my response was unclear.

1. Civics test is conducted at the time of the Interview. ( The interview will also quiz on the knowledge of English - write/speak, along with the Civics test.)
2. The local USCIS office should give you the Booklet to prepare for Civics Test, when you go for the Fingerprinting. The Book is called 'Learn About the United States - Quick Civic Lessons for the Naturalization Test'.
The official document ID number is M-638, and has 100 Questions that one should prepare thoroughly. The Book also has Audio CD, that makes learning fun ( listen to it in your car while running errands.)
here is where you can get that documentation online ................. http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/Office o...e Center Site/Publications/PDFs/M-638_red.pdf

Schedule an INFOPASS appointment at your local USCIS office and talk to them in person.
