So I have been married to a US Citizen for more than 5 years but I received my green card through marriage in March 2008. So I still have couple more months to receive my citizenship through marriage (3 years requirement). Things are not going well and I was wondering if anyone knew what happens if we go through divorce :( Do I lose my green card as well?! Please advise. Thank you.

You have more than a couple months. March 2008 + 3 years = March 2011 which is the earliest you can become a citizen.
But once you become separated* or file for divorce, you lose eligibility for citizenship with the 3-year rule.

*other than temporary separation not related to marriage problems, e.g. military deployment, higher education

You wont lose your greencard because you received a 10 year greencard with no conditional status. However you cannot petition another alien spouse for 5 years since you originally obtained the greencard through a US citizen. If you want to become a US citizen now, you will need to wait 5 years from March 2008...meaning March 2013.

Unless there is just no way you can be together for another day, I would have to strongly advise you to wait out the next two months. Once you achieve citizenship, nothing else will matter, and your days of worrying about green cards will be over. Regardless of what you decide, please keep us posted on your situation!
