I have applied US citizenship last september and normally like everybody else was supposed to be receiving the application receipt number in after 2-4 weeks. Unfortunately I got no letters or any receipt and still waiting. Last month I called Nebraska to find out about my case and a lady on the phone said that she could not disclose my case over the phone . She told me to expect a letter from the immigration within 3 weeks. Now I am still waiting for the letter after 5 weeks. I was wondering if someone could give me any information about how long will it take to receive the citizenship application receipt number ...........this worries me a lot cause no one knows how much longer one supposed to wait before he/she becomes a US citizen!!! Most of the people I know have received their citizenship in less than a year.................and I have no where to turn to or get an explanation about how the system works. I'd appreciate any feedbacks from anyone who could provide any useful information.........Thanks.
 
For starters try to find out when they cashed your check. It will tell you approximately when they received your application.
 
Also, get an infopass and go to the USCIS. They can look up your file using your A#, and usually face to face encounters have better outcomes.
