This question probably has been asked many times before...but....I am re-asking...
My understanding is that for citizenship, I need to be have a continuous residence here in US for a period of 30 months/2.5 yrs out of a total period of 5 yrs before filing the application.
From when should I count back the 30 months?
1) From the date of filing the application
or
2) From the date when the filed application comes to adjudication (which is probably difficult to predict...since it depends on the city/region where the application is filed)
Following the above, I have a potentially stupid question:
Let us say I maintained a continuous residence for 30 months out of 5yrs till I file my application, at that point, I fulfilled the requirement. Then can I leave on a trip to outside US??
cheers,
