Citizenship question (wife a USC)

I got married last month. My wife is a USC (became 2 months ago). I also received my Green card (not related to marriage) 2 weeks ago. I was wondering if I could file for citizenship earlier on basis of my marriage to a USC. I was told that one has to be a citizen for 3 years before he or she can sponsor. Since I have my green card I was hoping to file for citizenship after 3 years of marriage.
Can anyone explain what the law is? Again I understand that I can file for citizenship after 3 years as long as I remain married.

Thanks,

you can file for citizenship after 3 years provided you're still married to and living with the citizen spouse. How you got your greencard is not an issue.

Thanks. i also read the application and it was pretty clear. Have to have green card for 3 years and wife a USC for 3 years and been married and living together for 3 years.

I have another question in regards to that. My wife is from another state, she has not left her job yet but right now she is with me until her vacation is over.Options are for her to look for another job in my state or I move to her state. As for now when she returns to work next week she will be in her state for a few days out of the week and at the end of the week she will come back. Her employer may also let her work from home which means she can work from where I live.
I am not sure how things are going to turn out as we are looking into our options. Is this going to be a potential problem as the officer may say you guys did not live together continuously for 3 years?

copper,

Set up joint bank accounts.

File taxes jointly (giving a single address) - even if you have to file state taxes in two states, file jointly.

Have your utilities and other accounts put in joint names.

If you have two houses or appartments (sounds like you do), try to get both of you on both leases.

etc. etc.

Living together doesn't mean you have to be in the same bed every night, LOL.

You just need a paper-trail that demonstrates a tightly integrated life.

Thanks, lol... Well we live together but its between 2 states and it will be over soon, id say with in th enext month or 2. I have already done the joing account etc and I will probably file taxes jointly unless individually we can get more return.
