A very worthwhile cause but ...... I hate to be a "wet blanket" but generally speaking, online/internet petitions at best just do not work, and at worst are a mechanism to secure lists of live email addresses or even worse.

A better solution is to go to the effort of getting your representative and senators email addresses and write something that doesn't look like a form letter to them.
