Citizenship of Kid

Hi
My Husband is a US Citizen through naturalization and I am an Indian in GC (as I'm married to US Citizen). What will be citizenship of our Kid if he/she is born in India.. If it gets Indian Citizenship as it is born in India, what is the process for the Kid to get US Citizenship. Should we get a GC first and then Citizenship.

Thanks

Child born to a US citizen (father or mother) in a foreign country gets US citizenship automatically. After the birth, the US citizen parent has to apply at a US consulate for a "Consular Report of Birth Abroad" document. At the same time, an application for child's passport can also be filed.

Documentation required to get the "Consular Report of Birth Abroad" and passport are:
1. Child's foreign birth certificate with both parents names shown;
2. US citizen's proof of citizenship (US passport will do)
3. If only father is the US citizen then a marriage certificate showing husband's and wife's full names is also required.
4. Fees.

Check the website of the nearest US consulate for more information.
