Citizenship/Naturalization Interview - Selective Registration Confusion.

My initial interview for Naturalization is coming up in couple of weeks. In the interview notice under the section named

"You MUST BRING the following with you to the interview:"..the followings are listed

  • This Letter
  • Your Alien Registration Card (green card)
  • Any evidence of Selective Service Registration
  • Your passport and/or any other documents you used in connection with any entries in the United States.
  • Those items noted below which are applicable to you...

The questions I have are

Q1) Is "you must bring the following with you to the interview.." section see above, is it common or the same format for all applicants ?
Q2) I got my Green Card when I was 34years, Do I still need to take any documentations on "Selective Service" registration ?..In one of the thread, it appeared questions were asked about "selective services" registration even when the applicant happened to be 36years of age...Honestly, I heard and came to know about "selective services" registration requirements only upon seeing the interview notice.

Appreciate any help on the questions above!

What you received is a standard cookie cutter letter. Since you got your green card at age 34 years, selective service registration is not required. If you never lived in the US when you were under 26 years old, there is no need to register with Selective services. USCIS interviewing officers are aware of this requirement.

I came to USA at age 24 on B1. For 10 years I was in and out of USA with several VISA such as H1, L1. I have never been out of status even a day in USA.

You will have to provide proof that you entered US before 26th birthday on a valid non-immigrant status. Entry stamps in passports are best way to prove it.

Even if someone under 26 is in USA, they need not register if they are in non-immigration status. Only citizens and GC holders under 26 were supposed to register for it. That's my understanding.

You are over 31, so don't worry about this. Once you're over 31 they're not going to deny citizenship if failure to register is your only issue. And you weren't required to register anyway, if you maintained valid nonimmigrant status all the time when you under age 26.

Thank you folks. I will post the results of the interview. However, please continue to provide feedback if you hear anything about any new cases.
Appreciate it!

Interview completed sucessfully.

The letter I received appears to be a cookie-cutter letter. The interview went fine, I was able to answer all questions correctly. Thank you all for the feedback!
