Many of us got green card and waiting for 5yrs to be completed, so that we can file for Citizenship. In the mean time IT job situation in India is improving like crazy. As a result many of us want to go back to India. At the same time we don't want to loose the GC. So everybody asking about re-entry permit and how early they can file for citizenship.
My question is if we are going back to India for good then why to bother about GC/US Citizenship. After settling to India if we want come to US for business purpose then we can always get visa and come here. I understand that all of us has gone through hell to get the GC. But that time you wanted to stay in US. Now you are thinking about to staying in India.
Can somebody explain why to bother about US citizenship or keeping the GC?
DO we loose the Social Security benefit if we surrender the GC?
