Citizenship interview was in phila. Indian Passport expires on 8/21/07 prior to Oath.

I live in Delaware. My citizenship interview was on 7/09/07 at philadelphia. Went ok. Officer said, he reccommends & after another officer's final offer I will receieve letter to appear for oath. That's standard practice in Phila. office. & to expect oath date around mid september.

My Indian passport expires on August 21, 2007. Do I need to renew it, for few days? I am not planning to go India prior to oath.

Do they ask to see Indian passport at oath time?

Your (expired) passport is good to take along if you ever were asked for evidence supporting the answers on the back of the oath letter.

Oops, yes thats true. Maybe this is not the case for the OP, but if you travel between interview and oath, you could be asked to show your passport as well as hand over your GC.

have you gotten your oath letter? i interviewd in philly 7/27/07 and was wondering how come no oath letter yet as of know. i know there is a big ceremony at the constitution center sometime in september, but the officer mentioned they had ceremonies quite frequently at the callowhill office.

Next oath for DE residents is Sept 6th. They send notices two weeks before ceremony. So Ashteek needs to expect his letter around August 23rd. Remember however that they did not have any ceremonies for DE residents since June 7th, so the slots at September ceremony may fill out quick.
 
oath letter

today i got my oath letter. it was processed 8/10, sent from vermont 8/14 and i received today 8/17 for appointment at the philadelphia callowhill office on 8/29 at 2pm. I had my interview 7/27.

hope everybody else gets their letter soon.

just as aside, the online status still has not "disappeared" and says my thing is in vermont, etc
