Hi everybody!
I had my citizenship interview yesterday morning with uncertain result.
My applied at the end of April 2007(PD 05/01/2007), had my FP on 05/25/2007, and then was held up in NC limbo for 15 months, finally receiving my IL on 08/25/2008, with the interview scheduled for yesterday at 7:30AM.
From this forum I became aware that my FP are only valid for 15 mos., and that they had expired at the end of August 2008. As I wanted to be proactive, I took an InfoPass and went to ask for another FP appointment which was given to me and scheduled for 09/26/2008. The IO assured me that it would give CIS enough time to get the FP report before my interview.
While I was there, I asked the IO whether my NC had indeed been completed.
After looking at his computer screen, he replied that it had.
I took second FP on the scheduled date, and showed up for the interview this morning. After about a 15 minute wait, I was invited in by an IO who asked me whether I would like to take a test in an old or a new format. I replied that I would like an old format, and after answering all 6 questions correctly and reading/writing one sentence I was told that I passed the test.
After that I was sent into another room, and after another 15 minutes wait, I was invited into an interview room by another IO.
The interview took about 30 minutes - a few questions regarding my application, asking me confirm my answers on trips abroad, membership in political organizations, marriages, children etc. The IO asked for a proof that I am supporting my children from the first marriage, and I showed him a letter from my bank + bank statements showing payments. He also asked for certified copies of court records showing disposition of my two arrests, which I provided.
It seems I was able to satisfy th IO on all these counts. However, at the end of the interview he told me that the decision cannot still be made in this case due to "pending security check", and that I will be getting a decision by mail.
I asked him whether it is because of my FP's and he answered (somewhat vaguely, imho): "Yes, it has to do with your FP's.". I then brought to his attention that I had second FP's taken on 09/26 and he told me that he is aware of it. At that, the interview ended.
My guess is that FP results just did not make it into my file in time for interview, after all.
Now counting days to 120.
