Citizenship Interview And Employment Verification

Hi,

I attended citizenship interview in Baltimore yesterday. In employment section, where they require you enter your past employment I listed all my 3 previous employers, the last one being sponsorer of my green card. The mistake (a stupid one) that I did was I entered the current name of my previous employer.

Ex. Company C 1/1/2003-Current
Company B 3/1/2001-12/1/2002
Company A 1/1/1997-2/28/2000

Company A is the current name. My green card was sponsored by Company X, which was split during my Green Card processing to Company Y & Z. And company Z was rename to Company A. Now they want a proof that I was employed by Company X during my green card approval time. I requsted the current company to provide that information and they are looking into it. My W2 for that year says Company Z.
What other documentation that I should provide (legally) that proves the split etc...?

Thanks for the help.

W2 may have the split name, but do you have Payslips? They would have the old name. 401K statements may be helpful as well.

I would try to get a letter from the company stating the split, name change and the timelines.

W2 does not have a split name. I don't have payslips (who thought I would need them :(). I did request the company with relevant information and the law firm that represented me to send the documentation.

Thanks

You can also look for press releases and other public information regarding the split and rename. All public companies and other mid/big size companies issue press releases to announce this kind of splits and re-names (assuming that your employer did issue the press releases). Try search on Google or look into news archives at Yahoo finance or something.

Does CIS accept an affidavit from you company stating the changes that were made 4-5 years ago?

Hi Ruthereno

Could you please update us on the status of your application. Were you able to give them the required docs and your case approved now?

I am in the similar situation.. Company that started my GC process got split and changed names . I am not sure which name to mention now in my application.

thanks

would you just put the new changed name of the company which started your gc, and with the note saying .. "Formerly known as ... xxx"?

it seems that's what Ruthereno did and got questioned.. :(

So I guess I am going to write the old name of the company and in the bracket say (now known as XX).
