Citizenship for child

Hi All,
I need help from forum gurus. My wife and myself have filed for citizenship on Jan 21st . Priority date Jan 23, 2006. We also had our fingerprinting done in Newark on Feb 21st . Waiting for our interview date. We have a son who is 9 years old who got his green card along with us in 2001(5 years ago) through employment. I understand that he gets his citizenship when we get ours automatically. I also understand I do not file his case. How does this work? Should I apply for him when we take oath? What form should I use? Or is it that he gets citizenship automatically and he also gets his citizenship certificate when we get as we mentioned his name in the N400 application.
Any guidance is higly appreciated.
I am doing citizenship myself and have to ask this forum experts for answer.

Thanks in advance for your help

Regards

He gets his citizenship automatically when one OR both of his parents get naturalized. He can then apply for his passport (of course you have to apply on his behalf as he is minor) using the naturalization certificate of the parent(s). You can actually apply for all 3 passports together. That works perfectly. The passport is the proof of his citizenship. On the otherhand if you want a citizenship certificate for him also, then you can apply for it using N-600 form. This costs way more than the US passport and in my opinion doesn't do a jack that US passport can not do. So, it is your choice.
