I am a GC holder through employment. My wife has a GC through family. We married last year ( I was on H1 and she was a GC) and my wife became a citizen this year. Ideally, I can apply for Citizenship after 3 years, but I am planning to go for studies and thus wouldnot be staying with her for couple of years. Would this hamper my citizenship chances. We will file joint taxes but our addresses would be different. Just wanted to find out if this has any consequence ?
The whole reason I need it soon is because of my mother who I want to sponsor. Is there anyway I can sponsor my mother on my GC or I should wait for my citizenship. Any Idea how much time is involved.
