Hello all,
Just an FYI on my experience with the citizenship process. Perhaps it will help someone out.
I applied for my citizenship the FIRST time in mid JUNE 2001
I applied under the 4 year and a day rule since I was out of the country on a Re-entry permit for more than 1 year.
Had an interview scheduled for JAN 17th 2002 .
At the interview I was told that my application could not be deceided on as I had applied 3 months BEFORE I should have applied .( to clarify under the 4yr and one day rule you can apply only after the 4 yrs and a day are COMPLETE not three months before as the form says that holds good only of your applying under the normal 5 yr rule)
Reapplied for citizenship on March 21st (After I got my letter of rejection)
No finger prints ( since the old app finger prints were valid)
Interview sheduled for September 20th 2002.
This time everything worked like a charm was out of the interview in 30 mins and was given the OATH letter after my interview apparently there was an oath ceremony the following friday 27th Sept.
Took my oath on the 27th and am now a citizen.
The second time around was pretty quick.
Hope this helps folks out there..
BTW olyui can you let me know how your K3 is going I have just applied.

Congratulations. I have the same problem. Please can you tell me
that did you sent the copy or original of the reentry permit along with the citizenship app. I was out of the US for more then 1 year and used a reentry permit to get back. Second time I again got the reentry permit but didnt used it. Although I did leave US for about 2 months. But when I return the second time i didnt
show the permit to immigration officer as my stay outside was less than 1 year and the officer didnt ask also. Please help..
i have to apply soon.

Hi there ,
No I did not send my RENTRY PERMIT with my application. I did send a copy of my reentry with my N-400 . I dont think having a second one would be a problem since you came withing 2 mths. That would not disrupt your continuous residence. Just make sure you apply AFTER 4 yrs and one day from the day you returned from your time out of country of more then 1 yr.
All the best.
