Citizenship application

Hi,

Here I've got a "between us" question. I came to Canada in Nov 2000 and filed citizenship application in Feb 2004. Most of the time for 2001, 02 and 03 I stayed in Canada, except that starting July 2003 I was contracted by and worked for a US company. I filed my 2003 Canadian tax return with attached US w-4 form in it. I did not declare that time period in the “absence” section in the citizenship appliction form.

Now the question is: How should I explain to the officials in the interview? I heard there will be one for everyone. If I tell the truth, then I would not have enough time for 3/4 years. If I hide this, what will it be like if they find out? To make it even harder, this might be the last chance for me in terms of citizenship, since I have worked and stayed in US for the entire year of 2004. Therefore it is almost impossible for me to file another application in the near future should I fail this one.

Thanks for your suggestions !!
