My wife green card has wrong Residence Since date , the year is 02/2005 which should be 02/2008. We noticed it when we are about to file the citizenship application after completing 5 year residancy requirement.

I would like to know if it is ok to file the application with the wrong date as she has completed 5 years after 2008.
Do we need to put the date as shown on card in the application and, write a explaination.

I am planning to apply as replacement of the card will take time and we dont want to delay the application. Also I will attach the welcome notice we received which has correct date.

Forum members I will appreciate your feedback and advice.

Just use correct date and write a note to be attached with copy of GC explaining it. USCIS should have the correct
date in their file. Don't spend money on replacement card simply because the date is wrong.

You know the date on the card is wrong, so don't use that date. Use the correct date which you see on the welcome notice.

No explanation is necessary with the application, given that she qualifies to apply with the 5 year rule whether they calculate the time based on the 2/2005 date on the card or the correct 2/2008. The explaining can be done in the interview.

And don't apply to replace the card. That would be a waste of time and money.
