Citizenship and divorce

I have been married for 6 years, got my citizenship through marraige, I got my divorce 6 months ago. Pretty nasty seperation. She claims to have recieved a letter from INS wanting to check on me, she wouldn't tell me why, she has an appointment with INS, I don't know if that is true. I don't believe if there is any letter but to be on safe side I would like to know, has anybody recieved a post divorce letter from the INS check on your current status, Can INS take away or revoke a US citizen of 1 year without criminal records or wrongdoing on a falsified information. Please advice.....

not everyone would be checked by USCIS after divorce. I guess your ex-wife might report to USCIS and tried to tell them the marriage was fake and tried to have them to revoke your citizenship? not sure.

i heard the naturalized citizenship can be stripped away but i am not sure if i have read it correctly or not.

I think she's bluffing...hopefully she doesn't know anything compromising about you...you know exwifes are the best informers for...IRS for example...

I would say the following;
I am sure that the x-wife is a bitter wife, and would like to mess with you. On the other hand , you can't totally ignore that , as there would be still a chance of that letter being true, it's a very slim chance, i would say %10. Therefore, why don't you schedule an infopass and go to the DO and check if there is anything.

You are not supposed to be subject to the USCIS anymore, because you are a citizen now. Plus, if your marriage was entered into in a good fait, and ended in divorce, then you TOTALLY have nothing to worry about. A large percentage of the american population end up in divorce. So you are totally american lol.

Maybe it's a good idea to call your divorce lawyer as well. At minimum, I would suggest not to completely ignore that letter, ask, investigate, go to the DO, or do any of the precedent choices.

Good luck, oh , when is that appointment is set for?

Assuming that the OP has filed an AR11 when he moved, any letter from CIS should go to his current address.

OP has the citizenship already and why would he need to file AR11?

Oops. I got confused.
But even then, CIS would have to send any correspondence related to "checking on him" to his address.

true. but he won't be responsible on any address change to USCIS even he moves around in or move out to the country, and USCIS needs to get a hold of him.

may be he could say to USCIS "too bad.. so sad and I moved"? hee hee

I think the wife is pluffing....

Why would he send a AR-11 to CIS..he is a ctizen not a GC holder?

After becoming US Citizen we still have the CIS on our tail???
I was hoping that, one day, when I'll become a Citizen I WILL NEVER EVER HEAR FROM CIS NOR I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM ANYMORE:confused:

I really think we do not have to worry AR11 after becoming a citizen.

A disgruntled U.S. citizen spouse that asserts a marriage was a fake to obtain an immigration benefit may think she / he is getting back at her / his spouse. But think about it: she / he is a party to the marriage too and opens herself / himself to charges of fraud as well.... pretty dangerous territory to be treading into.
