No Title
RFE is "Request for evidence". The purpase might be but not limited to
1. Verify the applicant was never out of status. This happens to people with long history in US and lots of status change (J1-H4-F1-B1-H1)
2. Verify the employer is not a phony one. Sometimes they ask for employer\'s tax return. One can imagine that this never happens to CSCO, INTC or MSFT. If you don\'t know the 3 symbols, get off the board ;-)
3. Verify the applicant has a valid job. They ask W-2 or even tax returns.
4. Any other documents that are required by I-485 filing. Like medical exam or birth certificate. If this kind of things happen, it means you or your lawyer did a sloppy job.
RFE slows down the process quite a bit since it involves communication from your part (or lawyer), employer and INS. It might take forever to put the new documents together with your files.
If there are too many things warrant RFEs or more likely because the officer doesn\'t understand something about your file, the case will be transferred to local office. You will be asked to go in for an interview so they could scrutinize on your case.
Hopefully nothing mentioned above will happen to your case. Good luck to all.
