I got my passport stamped on July 7th and am still waiting for the plastic card. I checked the status of the plastic card by calling the same number used to check the 485 status (at least thats what I gathered from this discussion). That message still tells me that my case has been approved(485 approval). When is that message supposed to change?
I got my stamping done in Chicago. Is that going to pose a problem. One of my friends got his stamping done from Atlanta and his approval from CSC and he got his plastic card within 3 months.
I learnt yesterday in the US immigration at DC that having the card is not really the same as the stamp on the passport. For starters I was sternly told by the immigration officer that I could come to the US Citizens/Permanent Residents line only if I had the card. The she said that she is doing me a favor by Not asking me to go and stand in the foreigners line. Then she punched in some stuff in the computer and then asked me to go to another room inside. Then after some questioning they stamped the entry stamp onto my passport and let me through. It wasn\'t a big hassle but its not the same as having a actual card and hence I am getting a little restless as its been around 5 months now.
