Hi Ciba and others

Need your input. Our FP is scheduled for Aug 16 and we are going to be out of the country for the entire month of Sep. We have valid H1 and h4 visas. NO AP !! There have been a few cases here where the approval has come in within 20 to 30 days. With my luck my approval might come in within 20 to 30 days ... GOD !!!Never in a million years I thought I would call fast approval BAD LUCK !!!!!!!I am going bonkers here...
What are the ramifications of I-485 approval while appilcant(s) are out of the country ?

TIA

I think someone posted that approval is valid for 30 days- only folks with that precious document can verify, I am still waiting for mine.

Not a Problem Have a Valid AP to get back in

My wife was out of the country when out 485 got approval. She came back 2 months later with valid AP. POE SFO. No questions were asked.

I have a valid H1

Bacardi151,

It was indicated to me that valid H1/H4 equals AP in all aspects. I am not sure of that anymore.

Hi Jumper,

You can still get back into US if your AOS is approved while you
are out of the country. Sometimes immigration officers at port
of entry would find out the approval from the computer screen,
and stamp passport on the spot! But that is very rare!

The approval has no "expiration date" whatsoever. You can
go for stamping at your convenience, but do it as quickly as
possible.
