Friends,
I will be getting my citizenship by end of this month. My dependent children are in India. Is it possible to have their citizenship procedure done in India for the dependent children. If that is possible what would be the procedure. All of them are below the age of 18 and none of them are adopted.
Any information or leads is appreciated.
Thanks,
Suresh Y

I am pretty sure you cannot do so unless your children are born after your citizenship. In your case, your children will have to be pettioned via I-130 and the citizenship can be sought once they arrive in the US only without delay.

I have a child born outside of the US just 3 months prior to my citizenship and I have to go through this process.

The caveat is they have to hold the Green Card. If they already have their GC, then you don't have to go the process of I-130.

Coming back to your original question, about the process in India, sorry I'm not sure about it.

As far as I know, once u get ur naturalization cert, enclose that with the kids GC, apply for the US passport.

Good Luck!!

So, the bottom line is that the children must have GC to apply for US passport.

If they are already PR, then I think you should be able to apply for passport from India, as the certificate of citizenship is not required to get the US passport.
