Children brought to the US illegally and abandoned..

If a minor is brought to the US, abandoned, and then turns 18 what is to happen to them if they do contact authorities? What are options for them? Assuming they have no family in their birth country and no paperwork of any sort regarding who they might be.
 
I would get a Lawyer on this one, however I have heard stories of abandoment children receiving special Green Cards. However, you need to have I.D. or something, I mean the child (adult whatever) don't remember the parents/Guardons names? how was the child raise all these yearS?
