I have an interview for Naturalization. I have child support payments for my ex-wife. The INS in a letter asked for a proof of child support, they are asking for cancelled checks, report of wage garnishment or a letter from the other parent suggesting that I pay etc. I have asked my ex-wife to give me a notarized letter saying that she has been receiving child support money as ordered by court.
I have multiple questions; I appreciate if you can share with me your experience:
1-Did any one have done something similar, i.e. submit only notarized letter?
2- any particular format INS prefers or you used? My letter has our names and SS #s and a statement saying that my ex-wife has been receiving child support money (in the form of checks, cash and/or money orders) as ordered by court? Is this enough? Or they still asked for cancelled checks etc? How many checks and how far back?
3- did you use a similar letter did you submit anything else?
Thanks.
P.S. I have received some inputs from some of the experts on this forum via private msging but would like to get this forum's presepective and input from people who may have gone thru this.
