Child First Name Change N600?

I'm applying for the N600, and my child and I were both born outside the United States. I want to change her first name, but there is no option available on the N600 form. What should I do? Do I have to petition the court for the name change? Before or after the N600 application? Thanks.

i will suggest that you petition the court first and change the first name. from there you use the new first name as current legal name and then the old name at where it says name as it appears on your permanent resident card. you then attach a copy of the document from the court to the n-600 and mail all to the DO.
