Hi,

My case just got approved. still waiting for approval notice to arrive. However I would like to make appointment as early as possible.

If the approval notice instructs me to Chicago office for stamp on Wednesday, Could I still make appointment to stamp on Monday ? In other words, do I have to follow the exact day on the notice for stamp ?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

You can go even without the approval notice.

Here is my case info.

I-140 RD May 2002
I-485 RD August 2002
I-140 AD July 7 2004
I-485 AD September 14 2004

Is there anyone actually who went into Chicago office for passport stamping without approval notice recently ?

Would you mind let me know what docuement your friend brought for stamping ? a copy of online status ? copy of email notification for case status update ?

Thank you.

I posted the info somewhere else (look for "jan 03 approved"). Yes, copy of online status plus copy of the email.

I just got my PS stamped this morning. I was approved early this month and made a InfoPass two weeks ago.

I brought my PS, two PP pics, approval notice, EAD.

Looks like it will be hard for you to get in without an infopass. I was asked three times for it. The security at the entrance of the building, the lady who assigns the watch number, and the immigration officer.

The lady officer was to me after being wait for almost 20 minutes. She took all the docs I brought and FPed me. The she stamped the PP. That was it. It took less than 5 minutes.

I have a question to you guys, the lady give me 8 month for the temp GC because my PP will be expired in 8 month. She told me the card will arrive in 12 month. Do I have to go for the second stamp if I do not want to go out the country? Can I just sit and wait the card to come? I forgot the ask her.

Jzreba, can you do me a favor askinng the officer when you go?

Thanks everyone.

whygc, I will ask when I get my pp stamping.

I asked around and I was told that you don't have to do 2nd pp stamp if you are not going out of country. The stamp is merely an evidence of your PR status. stamp will expire but your PR status will not expire. You can wait until your card arrives.

Thanks, npnjan02 for your info.
