Chicago Applicant Which Applied For Aos In 1997

I had applied for AOS I485 in Nov 1997 in Chicago.There was no ground for AOS i.e I didn't married nor someone sponsored me.
After two months I got my work permit & after that I didn't hear anything (may be because I moved to different address) Now I heard that INS is deporting those applicants.Recently there is a law suit filed by MALDEF against INS.If you are the victim of
same case please post here.

Doesn't a frivolous application get denied outright ? Is a receipt notice issued for such cases - leave alone an EAD ?

I thought a minimum eligibilty criteria is required for an 485 to be put in que for further processing - which includes any derivatives like EAD and AP.
