People,

My daughter is getting a repeat medical exam due the the fact
that when she had it 3 years ago she was not yet 15 and had
just gotten a partial exam. Now INS sent RFE asking for
complete adult exam.

Question I have is should she get the chest X-ray exam no matter
what. The doctor keeps saying that if the TB skin test is negative
they don't need her to get the X-ray, but my lawyer says both the
X-ray and the TB skin test is required.

Any feedback would be welcome.

Phoenix Saint.

I only had a chest x-ray and no skin test - from where I came from we all had TB vacines at school - which gives a false positive to the skin test. So Doctor said easiest thing was to have the x-ray than have a positive skin test and then have to show it was incorrect.

You daughter should be fine with the skin test the goal is for the doctor to be satisfied she does not have TB, the lawyer should not be concerned how the doctor conducts his tests/

The medical is sealed and not seen by you or your lawyer so just tell your lawyer what they want to hear ;-)

X-ray is required for Positive

TB Test is required for all.

If it is negative then no X-ray is required

If it is positive then X-ray is needed to confirm that there is no problem internally. Depending on the X-ray report, the concerned doctor may put your daughter on prescription for 1 year.

Statusfinder you are wrong !!!

The doctors task is to find out if you have TB or not - the INS does not specify how they do that.

The easiest way is the skin test which is fastest and cheapest way. But as I stated in my case it can give a false positive due to a TB vacination so the Doctor went straigth to the more expensive but better chest xray. Its easier to do this than have to fill in all the paper work to explain a false positive.

So I did NOT have a skin test. To the original posters question the skin test is fine the only risk is if you had a vacine it can show a false postive.

My sincere thanks to all!

It makes a lot of sense.
That's what the immig doctor was telling us too.

By the way, my daughter was negative on the TB skin test even
though she had the BCG vaccine as a baby. The doctor did not
require the chest X-ray as a result.

Thanks again.

rjl, the question was what to do if the skin test was negative, not when the test is false positive. Btw, false positive does NOT mean -ve. So, false positive is +ve which is why people go for XRay. If skin test is -ve, you have nothing more to explain and donot need Xray. Your doc is right, not your lawyer and rjl understood it wrong!!

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that people particularly senior members do not actually read the messages on this board before responding.

If you read my original posting - I mentioned my case to illustrate the doctors have latitude to do what they think is best - in my case that meant skipping the skin test.

I then went onto to say that the orignal posters doctor was correct and to ignore the lawyer. In fact just what you said.

Immediately following my post someone replies and says you must have the skin test - well he is wrong because I didn't.

A doctor then clears up the situation and we are happy. but no some senior member has to then post.

Please read my first response it clearly says the doctor was correct and the lawyer was incorrect. I'm sorry I brought up my situation - I only did to show doctors run then medicals not lawyers.

I guess this is all because I dared to critize Kashmir a few weeks back. I've learnt my lesson being helpful its not something wanted on this board.

Thanks mango. I've leave you all to bitch at each other

Phoenixsaint has already pulled the curtains on this show.He got what he wanted and has thanked everyone for their input. It's time for all of us to move on and not initiate another skirmish. If you have a lot of time in your hands, participate in one of the campaigns or do something else for your own good.Onwards!!
Cheers.

I'll make one last suggestion - can we start another foum for Campaigns !!! go back 6 months and this forum used to be a useful place to help each other answer questions. Now it's dominated by Campaign after campaign - posts in 48 point font. The finish to every thread is either some no it all senior member cutting you down or an urge to get involved in another campaign.

As you said I don't have time to start another skirmish - I will go else to give and seek help - somewhere if you are not fully committed to Project Ocean x.y you help is still appreciated.

Good luck and I truly hope you get your approvals soon.

rjl,

I don't really care if you participate/not participate in any campaign.I myself don't participate in all the campaigns. But i think some of them are useful. You don't seem to believe they are useful and that's fine.Neither of us need to get all riled up about that.

I think you are shooting at your own foot when you said you want to be in a forum that was "useful". That's the main message of my post. When you continue to argue just for the sake of argument after the person who posted a question said that he was satisfied with all the input he had received and was ready to make a decision, then that thread becomes a skirmish and stops being "useful". That's all i wanted to convey. If you don't want to listen and continue along those lines, be my guest- this is and will remain an open forum. If it stops being that I will leave before you did.

I also wanted to emphasize that I am just another Gc waiter like you. Not a better person or worse for any reason. The reason why the word "senior" appears after my name is ONLY because i have posted more messages here (including spam). You can post more and become a senior. You seem to be so obsessed with this junior/senior thing. Also, i could care less if you criticized kashmir or anybody else for that matter. I am not clanish or "loyal" to anyone and feel no need to defend anybody here.

My fellow victim of BCIS, i too, wish you good luck in obtaining your GC!!
