Checking Status of FP and Name check

Do USCIS provide info on FP (not FBI status check where they said "send back on the same day) and Name check through 800 number?

Do I have to schedule Infopass meetings to find out when name check was submitted and if it was completed or still pending?

I'm not really kidding. People keep trying to find out what is going on. The information you get may be right, or it may be partially right or it may be completely wrong.

Unless your application goes south - something you don't really know until 6 to 9 months of nothing have gone by - there really isn't anything to do but sit and wait. Otherwise you can go seriously nuts. Instead, try making checking your mailbox into a fun daily activity :)

That's my philosopy

(my N-400 took about 14 months (with no name check problems - go figure) and my daughter's N-600 is nearly 10.5 months old now).

I admire and concur with Flydog's philosophy. I filed last August and I am now at the interview stage (next week). I did obsess rather after FP .... did the FP walk-in "work"? did the mail get lost? is there a problem with my namecheck? etc etc. At the end of the day for MOST of us (recognising that there are applicants with problems), the wheels keep grinding away and things do happen. I think that probably about 90%+ of N-400 applicants get the whole thing over in less than a year.

FBI has a phone number

FBI got a number posted somewhere on this bulletin board that you can call and inquire about finger printing. You can not get a lot out of them though. Just "your finger print done and results send back to USCIS". they won't tell you that they found something on the prints even they got a hit on you.

Do I have to schedule Infopass meetings to find out when name check was submitted and if it was completed or still pending?

as far as i know, finger prints and name check is considered under background check and if you have finger print appointment, that means they already ordered your name check as well. [/QUOTE]

Yes. I agree with that...

I was looking at the online status once in 2-3 days suddenly my wife's status disappeared but mine was still saying pending.... Even though I got worried a bit. I was sure that I will get the IL shortly.... If I had not got it. I would have waited for atleast the minimum time we have to wait to take further action...

Waiting for couple of moths after FP is not bad.... I agree there are cases where people are waiting after FP for almost 5 months.... Then they have to start looking for option to see what can be done next.
