Hi guys

We from Life After Green Card forum know you are very busy with collecting Citizenship requirement docs and attending interview /oath

It will be great if you guys can share your experience / friends experience about interview questions relating to job change After GC !!

Any subtle references form the immigration officers such as - how long u worked after GC for ur sponsoring employer - Qs related to AC21 - or any other job related Qs would be very helpful

thanks

Mostly the IO's don't seem to focus too much on employment history since its not a requirement for naturalization. However, if there is any question whether a GC was obtained legally, they can and will ask questions concerning your time with your sponsoring employer.

Additionally, employment history can also be used to establish/sustantiate residence claims, so sometimes you'll see questions come from that angle too.

thanks for the answer!!

in the "Life After Green Card" thread- there was heavy discussions as to leaving the employer before after 6 mos/1 year - with some members saying if you leave the sponsorer before 1 year - you will be quesitoned during citizenship - regarding your intent on getting the GC ( and being grounds of dismissal of ur GC)

thats the reason i posted this question

Not necessarily, but I could see cases where it may happen if the IO suspects the GC was obtained fraudulently. For example, people have described situations where they've been sponsored by Company A, been "laid off" before receiving GC and then gone to work for Company B immediately after GC arrived. Somehow they and their sponsoring company always "forgot" to notify USCIS of the change in their employment status.

So I guess what I'm saying is it really depends upon the individual situation and mood of the IO. Don't forget they have your complete A# file with all prior visa applications, so they can and do check the consistency of any dates quoted.

In the Field Manual, the Officers are ask to probe your employment history if you left your sponsor less than a year after you received your GC. The purpose of this to check to see if the GC was obtain through fraud. A mean IO can give you a headache. Just be prepared to explain your situation to the IO. Remember, don't lie, that might be a bigger headache.
