Hello, I'm currently on H-1 status and plan to change to F-1 status. Just for the record, I have also applied for greencard through my husband. I would appreciate it if someone could reply to the following questions:
1) In the cover letter to the USCIS do I need to specify what semester I need to apply - for example whether Spring 2006 or Fall 2006?
2) If I apply for the Spring 2006 semester and it does not get approved in time, will the application be considered for Fall 2006 by default?
3) Once the change of status application gets approved - and I'm assuming a start date of activation would be given for the F-1 - can I quit my job before that date and still be in legal status ? Or do I need to hold on to my H-1 status until the date of activation of F-1?
Please reply. Thank you.
