changing maiden name on GC

I am trying to have my wife's maiden name changed on the GC, because we did the processing and got the GC initially with her maiden name. The INS site suggests filing for I-90 only if card expires or is stolen or has incorrect info, but not for name changes and besides the timeline for I-90 looks discouraging. If I don't change it in her GC and have it changed in Passport, SSN, DL etc. will she able to travel internationally?
