I made a mistake and when I filed the I-485 instead of putting my wifes married name "my last name" i put her maiden name, because i thought that all the doc's for the original Visa,I-94 and passport and birth certificate etc... were in her maiden name and putting the married name might cause confusion, anyway i realize now that it was probably a mistake , anybody know what i can do?

You should search in this forum. Name change has been discussed a lot of times.
i am sending a letter to MSC attn I-485 unit requesting name change for wife to my last name her married name with copy of NOA I-485 receipt and copy of marriage certificate, hope fully this will work.
if anybody tried this before please give some reply?thanks

Why don't you leave her name as in her passports, certificates and DL. It's not advisable to change just for I-485.
But she already changed it. I think what you're thinking of doing is a good idea. Just send a certified letter attaching those documents and explaning what happened. It's just that they need to know all the names your wife has ever used and her actual last name is not her maiden name. Hopefully it will all work out without any problems.
thanks payala i think so because from what i have read in forum its harder to change the last name after green card is issued especially a conditional green card and i applied for EAD in married name , iwasnt thinking about when i filled out 485 i just was in a hurry, and was not using this forum to gain info, its amazing how much this forum helps people i am glad for all the peoples inputs, thanks satgym73 also
the passssport has her maiden name and she cant go back to her country to change it anyway, the I-485 or AOS is a stamp in her passport then they issue the card, this will have the accurate name, and when she applies for US passssport someday she will have the married name, if i get a new receipt of I-485 w/ married name i can go to DMV and change her name there also,she does not have DL but ID card and they would only put maiden name because they go off what imigration has her as, it seems also or is wise in the process of all this to start early if you are going to make changes than to delay, postpone or just blow it off, nip it in the but now,because once it get sets in gold or should i say "GREEN" your stuck thanks
