Changing Job

I got stamped in the end of Nov, now my client asked my employer for my transfer, my client is a big client for my employer(nearly 20 people are contracting) and immediately he agreed for my transfer. Now they decided that the cut off date is Jan\' 15th. My employer asked me to resign formally and he will give no objection certificate. Is it OK in my point of view. Please advice me.

OK if they formally lay you off.
