Guys/ Gurus.

I need all your inputs on this burning question ? Can we change job titles with pending LC ( The new job title will of course be in the same area, very typical to Software industry, like systems specialist - Systems Analyst - Prog analyst etc)

I know this is a grey are and is open to everyone's interpretation. Can someone who has done this share their views or point to me the official jargon / document on it.

Many thanks....

I had the same question few months back and I consulted several lawyers. I got almost the same answer from everyone. There shouldnt be a problem if the "job duties" are similar.
As you said this is a grey area and no one can really tell you how USCIS will look at the new title when you file I-140. Since I am in my sixth year I decided not to take a chance.
I also think this is a problem for bigger companies that will only write your actual title and job duties. For desi consulting firms I am sure you can get a letter saying what you want.

Thanks for your input. Yes it is a grey area and this is when the attorneys interpretation and handling matters. My attorney who is generally conservative favors moving jobs within the organization. He is of the view that the USCIS is 'reasonable' these days and understands that no employee can be locked to the same job title and duties for the entire GC process.

The key factors here are GC is for a 'future position' and as long as the Labor has been certified and the process is done in 'good faith' it is fine.
