Changing job prior to INS Interview (N400)

I am waiting on my interview date for the N400 process (currently expect this to occur within next 2 to 3 months as my FP was done Dec 5th 2006)

I am almost certainly going to leave my present employer (I have had a green card for over 5 years) and take a little time off before setting up my own consulting business.

Can anyone provide any insight into the potential impact of this with regards to my pending N400 Interview (at SFO office) I understand it would be easier to stay put in my current job, but really want to leave and it will be prior to my interview date for sure. Is the INS going to be concerned that I may be between jobs? I have since arriving in the US.

Thanks,

Simon

changing jobs before citizenship interview

Hi,
You need to inform the IO during the interview that you have changed jobs. He may or may not have questions about the reason for you to switch jobs and add the info to your N-400 application. If you have overall a clean track record as far as other questions on N-400 are concerned , you should be fine. Hope this helps.

As I understand it...

Other than issues related to your employment immediately after an employment-related GC, the N-400 process has nothing to do with your job (well, you need to mention it in the "employment history" section of the form, but...)

Well believe it or not, changing jobs during natz is way easier than moving house! As flydog mentioned, beyond initial employer-sponsored GC verification, US employment isn't much of a factor in naturalization applications, except perhaps as a back to validate residency claims.

Change jobs, or quit altogether - you'll be fine either way.
