changing from R&D eng to s/w engr

Hi,
I currently work for a design automation company (we develop software tools in c/c++ for chip design) where I am an "R&D eng" and I plan to switch to a big financial software company as a "software engineer" developing financial products in c/c++.
My current employer used a labor substitute for my I-140/485 application, using a labor cert that desscribes job as (to paraphrase) "develop tools for integrated circuits". Does not mention c/c++ anywhere.

I am wondering if these two jobs will be considered "same or similar" as reqd by ac21. Any help?


PS: I-140 has been approved on sub labor cert and 180 days requirement is met.

I do not think it is a problem. It does not matter you are developing tool for integrated circuits or finance industry.

As long as the original labor makes it clear that you are developing software tools, not designing hardware tools, you should be fine.
