Changing from F-1 student visa to H-1B while waiting for priority to becom current?

I am currently an international student on F-1 visa in the States (legally). My mother filed I-130 (family preference), via adjustment of status on my behalf a couple years ago and it looks like my priority date should be current in the next 3-4 years or so.

I am expected to graduate in 2 years. When I graduate, would I be able to convert my F-1 student status to H-1b (assuming if I find an employer to petition) while waiting for my priority date to become current?

Thanks!

Yes, if you have the qualifications, find a willing employer, and can win a spot in the H1B lottery, and do that without a gap between your F1 and H1B status. Otherwise you may have to leave the US after graduation (and OPT, if applicable), wait outside the US until you're eligible to get an H1B visa at a US consulate, then return to the US in H1B status.
