Changing address in driver's license

At what point can I go to renew my driving license after I apply for AOS based on marriage. My driver's license is from a different state than my spouse's. I want to change my license to reflect my new residency, but the state now requires valid proof of residency. As I mentioned in my other postings, I'm F1 overstay. Has anybody had similar experience? I do have a SS card.

In Virginia, they will give you new driver's license once you show your EAD. The expiry date on your DL in Virginia will be the expiry date on your EAD
 
you should check the dmv website for the state you are moving. Since you already have a DL from a different state they may not even ask you for an EAD. all you will need to show is your current DL and other requirements they may have

Yes some states will take your out fo state DL witha proof of SS card and ask you to pay some fees for a new one. Others states however will want you to go through the whole process abain and then you will be required to fill the initial application forms again which required disclosure of residency or staus... that when you will have to show prove of yoyr EAd in order to get one.
If you do not have an EAd yet.. i'll say keep your old DL till your EAd arrives and when ever you are stoped by the police.. tell them you are in that state temporary since they requir you change it 30 days after arrival.

In Ohio, when I moved from another state I was able to get a drivers licence valid for the normal length of time with the I797 approval notice. Although the licence wasn't renewable or transferable when I get my greencard in the next few weeks I will go back and fix that!
