Hello,

I recently changed my status from H1B to EAD by filing I-9 Form. The main reason for doing this was that my recent project is over and currently I am looking for another project which might take more than couple of weeks. I have also submitted Leave without Pay.

1) I was told that in order for me to go on Leave without Pay I will have to switch to EAD - Is that right?

2) Also I am thinking of cancelling my insurance until I get another contract - I know that it's risky incase I get injured etc.. - but I am willing to take that risk. The only thing I am conerned about is whether not having any health coverage going to -vely impact my GC Process?

Experts Please suggest.

Thanks

Not having health insurance has no impact on the GC process. The USCIS does not care if you have insurance or not. However, should you get sick and have to go to the doctor of dentist but have no insurance, you will face lots of problems, so in that regard your decision to drop the insurance may turn out to be incredibly unwise and extremely expensive.

you can get a cheap temporary insurance while you are inbetween jobs, for i think up to 6 months, you will pay about $50 per month with high deductible, like if something happens you will pay first $3000 and then insurance company will pay the rest for you, it will be very helpful if you get into an accident and end up with a $100000 bill!
