Theoretically it is doable but practically it is not advisable, and also it depends on your RD/ND if you already waited for more than 6 months then I would say wait don't do it.
Check with your lawyer what is the process, I have not seen any case on this board who did like this, check on other forum.
I am pretty sure of this but pls check with a good immigration attorney.
If you switch to CP, your AOS would be considered as abandoned. I remember reading about this in 1999 when there was a major hold on AOS approvals at ALL centers and a lot of people wanted to go the CP route.
