My attorney claims that she was able to request another judge for our next master hearing (second one) without filing a motion for change of venue.
The judge that was assigned to my husband case oversees case of detainees at BTC (in Broward County, FL). She had asked me to pay her 500.00 to file a change of venue motion so that we could deal with a nicer judge. I told her I didnt have any more money and not to do it. Then, I call the 800 # and find out we have a master hearing for 12/1 with another judge. When I mentioned this to her, she told me that she was able to change the venue w/o having to file a motion. Honestly, I do not believe her!
Does anyone know how do I find out if the original judge (Rex Ford) ONLY oversees detainee cases? Or how do I find out if my attorney actually did what she said she did??

THANKS!!

well, if the 800# says so then that is true. My understanding is that Imm. Judges "really don't have to follow the guidelines". That's why they take it upon their discretion to do what they feel - under some circumstances. I've seen and heard enf. The 800# is correct... or you can even go to the clerk of the court and get a written order of the xfer.
