Change of status

I was F-1 student and applied for H-1 (direct H-1 without OPT), on 24th may 2006. when I checked the status of the application online it says still processing. I did not register for courses thinking that the H-1 will be approved, but since it is still not approved, and I guess I lost the F-1 status. Any suggestion on this please. Is there any way to avoid of any complication of going out of status? Please suggest

you are fine. as long as you filed the H1B petition before your F1 expired, you did not and are not out of status.
